E-cadherin is a most important calcium-dependent, intercellular adhesion molecule mediating the adhesion between epithelial cells. Recent studies have shown that the abnormal expression of E-cadherin is closely associated with the differentiation, invasion, metastasis and prognosis of various malignant epidermal tumors. To study the structure and function, action mechanism in tumor invasion and metastasis, as well as the relationship to and clinical significance in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, of E-cadherin, may provide some evidence for early diagnosis, therapeutic selection, and prognosis prediction of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
