Non-melanocytes in vitiligo lesions

Abstract:

The pathogenesis of vitiligo is still unclear. In addition to melanocytes, non-melanocytes are involved in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. More and more studies have been conducted on non-melanocytes in vitiligo recently. It has been shown that keratinocytes, Langerhans cells and fibroblasts affect the migration, proliferation and differentiation of melanocytes. The changes of cytokines secreted by and ultrastructural abnormality of non-melanocytes may affect the activity and apoptosis of melanocytes in vitiligo lesions, influence pigmentogenesis in skin, thereafter, take part in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. This paper presents the latest investigation of keratinocytes, Langerhans cells and fibroblasts in vitiligo.
