Relationship between pharmacogenomics and psoriasis medications

Abstract:

Psoriasis is one of the most common chronic recurrent dermatoses. There are a variety of drugs to deal it with different effects and side effects on different patients. Pharmacogenomic research is to distinguish the individual variation in disease and drug effects at the level of genome, to study the relation between the individual difference in drug effects and side effects and genetic polymorphism, so as to distinguish effective and ineffective drugs and to anticipate possible toxic reaction in certain populations. The pharmacogenomic study about drugs in psoriasis treatment, such as retinoins, VitD3 analogues, methotrexate and cyclosporine, may lead to rationalization and individualization of psoriasis therapy.
