Thymosin, a kind of small peptide with multiple biologic functions, is widely distributed in cell of various tissues. It plays an important role in physiological and pathological activities. Thymosin beta4 can promote the growth of hair follicles via activating hair follicle stem cells, increasing matrix metalloproteinase-2 production and secretion, inducing blood vessel formation, and so on. Thymosin is expected to be introduced into the treatment of obstinate hair loss through a series of pertinent basic and clinical studies.
