It is characterized clinically by cutaneous and mucosal erosions, blisters and bullae, and histopathologically by intraepidermal blisters and acantholysis. A consensus has been reached that besides anti-desmoglein IgG antibody-mediated humoral immunity, T cell-mediated cellular immunity is also a key factor in the pathogenesis of PV.
