Pulsed-dye laser, as the standard treatment of PWS, is still unsatisfactory in terms of total clearance. Based on the interaction between lasers, photosensitizers and oxygen, photodynamic therapy ��PDT�� is capable of destroying malformed vascular tissues through photodynamic effects, and has become a novel safe and effective treatment for PWS with encouraging prospects. Photosensitizers and light sources have great influence on the efficacy of and adverse reactions to PDT in the treatment of PWS, and further study is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.
