Metastasis is an extremely rare event for BCC. If left untreated, BCC will continue to invade locally and may result in substantial damage to surrounding tissues that compromises function and cosmesis and even threatens life. There are many treatment options for BCC, including surgical and non-surgical treatments. Surgical treatments, which are undoubtedly the first choice for BCC, include conventional surgical excision and Mohs microscopic surgery. If the skin defect is too large to be sutured directly, multiple methods can be used for wound repair. Non-surgical treatments include photodynamic therapy, radiotherapy, local chemotherapy, immunomodulatory therapy, molecular targeted therapy, and so on.
