Roles of cell in the immunity to Candida albicans infection

Abstract:

The structure of cell wall of Candida albicans is very complex, and mainly consists of glucan, mannan, chitin, cell wall proteins and lipids. The cell wall proteins are involved in the adhesion and invasion of Candida albicans.Glucan and mannan could induce host innate and adaptive immunity via specific receptors on the surface of phagocytes and dendritic cells, such as Toll-like receptors and dectin-1 which could also help Candida albicans to escape host immune response by inducing the expression of IL-10 and activating regulatory T cells.
