Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union College, Nanjing 210042, China

Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union College, Nanjing 210042, China

Abstract:

Azelastine hydrochloride, a long-acting antiallergic drug and selective histamine Hl-receptor antagonist, has the effects of antihistamine, stabilizing mast cell membrane and anti-inflammation. Its application in dermatology has been increasingly expanded, especially in the treatment of itching skin diseases, such as urticaria, atopical dermatitis, eczema, pruritus, etc. Attention should be paid to the interaction of it with central nerve system inhibitory drugs, cimetidine, ketoconazole, and so on.
