Abstract:
Cutaneous melanoma has strong potential of invasion and metastasis. Degradation of extracellular matrix(ECM) is a key event in tumor invasion and metastasis. Numerous studies have shown that matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) family plays an important role in the degradation of ECM. They can not only mediate ECM degradation by tumor cells, but also affect the angiogenesis of tumors, function of cell adhesion molecules, and interaction of non-matrix proteins with tumor cells, and regulate the apoptosis of tumor cells. The interaction of MMPs, cell adhesion moleculars and growth factors may regulate cell apoptosis and angiogenesis of melanoma. |
