Lichen sclerosus et atrophicus(LSA)is a chronic persistent inflammatory skin disease.Although the exact etiology is uncertain,lots of studies indicate that there are immunologic alterations of both biopsy specimens and peripheral blood in LSA.They include Lymphocytic vasculitis,numerous invaginations and holes in the basement membrane zone,monoclonal T-cell receptor Y-chain rearrangement; an increase in CD4⁺CD25⁺ regulatory T cells together with increasing cytokines in peripheral blood,and circulating autoantibodies to ECMl,which indicates immunologic alternation may be associated with the development of LSA.
