A case of reticular erythematous mucinosis

To report a case of reticular erythematous mucinosis (REM). This patient presented permanent sunburn-aggravated reticular erythema on the chest and back, accompanied by atrophic white macules and patches, necrosis and crust on the surface of the lesions. No systemic involvement or abnormity in laboratory examination was found. Histopathological examination showed infiltration with mononuclear cells and accumulation of mucin positive for alcian blue in the dermis. The case is definitely diagnosed as REM according to clinical feature, results of histopathology and alcian blue staining.
