Autoimmune urticaria

Autoimmune urticaria is a special subset of chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU). The patients often present with severe symptoms and have a genetic background. The pathogenesis of the disease is still unclear. The autoantibodies against the high affinity IgE receptor or IgE may play an important role. Immune cells and molecules also take part in the pathogenesis. Autologous serum skin test is the main method to screen autoimmune urticaria. Immunotherapy is effective for this disease.
