Abstract:

Latency-associated transcripts (LATs)are viral RNAs abundantly presented and transcribed during herpes simplex virus (HSV) latency, also the hot spot of recent researches in the mechanism of HSV latency and reactivation. Now, through near 30 years of researches, the important function of LAT has been disclosed in HSV latency and reactivation, but its mechanism is hardly clarified. In this field, hypotheses are continually coming out, but validation of those hypotheses is needed. We will review the outcomes of recent researches in the action mechanism of HSV LAT, which may provide some theoretical bases to further studies.
