As a surface antigen, CD40 is expressed on many kinds of cells, and the binding of it with its natural ligand CD40L plays important roles in the mediation of maturation, activation, and exertion of immunological effect of immunocompetant cells. The abnormity of CD40-CD40L signal pathway will result in pathological immunoreactions. In dermatology field, the interaction of CD40-CD40L is involved in the occurrence and development of immunologic, inflammatory, infectious and tumorous dermatoses.
