Advances in the Research of Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms Involved in Ultraviolet Lightinduced Immunosuppression

Abstract:

The intensity of near-earth ultraviolet(UV) radiation is increasing with the spoilage of ozone layer.UV radiation can induce a series of acute and chronic photobiologic reactions,result in human skin suntan,erythema,pigmentation and photoaging.Also,it can suppress the skin immune system by inhibiting the antigen presentation function of Langerhans cells,inducing the production of antigen-specific suppressor/regulatory T cells,causing DNA damage,conducing the synthesis and release of immunosuppressive cytokines by keratinocytes and affecting the metabolism of urocanic acid as well as production of neuropeptides and neuroendocrine hormones,and eventually,induce the development of cutaneous tumors.
