Two Kinds of New Anti-HSV Drugs

This review describes two kinds of new anti-HSV drugs,4-oxo-dihydroquinolines and cytosine-phosphate-guanine(CpG) -containing oligodeoxynucleotide(ODN),which have been developed in recent years.Many studies show that 4-oxo-dihydroquinolines have good oral bioavailability and plasma clearance,and they suppress both the DNA polymerase of HSV and virus replication in the cells.CpG ODN plays its anti-HSV role not by the direct suppression of the virus-infected cells but through the stimulation of immune system.Both the two kinds of new drugs have been experimentally verified to have good suppressive effects on HSV.
