Abstract:
Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for animals and humans because of its role in glu-tathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), an antioxidant enzyme. It has many biological activities, such as antioxidant, im-munomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic, anti-aging and so on. Recently, increasing evidence has demonstrated that selenium is closely related to the occurence and development of skin diseases, and has a therapeutic effect on these diseases. This paper focuses on the biological functions of selenium and selenium compounds in the development, treatment and prognosis of psoriasis, vitiligo, skin damage by ultraviolet, cutaneous tumors and so on. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
