Annexin A2: structure, function and relevance to associated skin diseases

Abstract:

As a calcium-dependent, phospholipid membrane-binding protein, annexin A2 exists as a monomer, heterodimer or tetramer in skin tissue and many cells. Annexin A2 plays a critical role in various skin diseases, including psoriasis, antiphospholipid syndrome, keloids and scar cancer by promoting DNA synthesis in keratinocytes, interacting with macrophages through Toll-like receptor 4, and affecting plasmin system together with β2-glycoprotein I (β2GPI.
