Retinoic acid metabolism blocking agents and their application in dermatology

Abstract:

Retinoids have been widely used for hyperkeratotic disorders and leukemia for a long time. However, various side effects, such as teratogenesis and hypertriglyceridemia, have been observed in their clinical application. Retinoic acid metabolism blocking agents RAMBAs can inhibit the enzymes responsible for retinoic acid metabolism, block the metabolism of retinoic acid in vivo, subsequently regulate the concentration of endogenous retinoic acids. Therefore, compared with traditional retinoids, RAMBAs are similarly effective, but have fewer side effects. As a newlydeveloped agent different from traditional retinoids, RAMBAs have a promising future in clinical application.
