Dermatologic diseases following the lines of Blaschko are commonly seen in clinical settings, they often have a characteristic skin manifestations. The idea that skin disorders following Blaschko lines represent genetic mosaicism has been widely accepted. The lesions of these diseases often show a peculiar distribution, such as linear, bandlike, eddy-like, and so on. These diseases may be congenital or not. They have to be differentiated from those disorders which originate from non-cutaneous organ system but show similarly peculiar distribution. Since the pathogenesis of some diseases can be elucidated through Blaschko lines, the research on Blaschko lines may provide new insights into the classification and progression of some diseases.
